Whether we like it or not, the news impacts all of our lives, and with so many different outlets it can be hard to find a reliable source of information. At this blog, we won’t claim to be the only answer – there are plenty of quality news outlets to choose from and it’s often valuable to have multiple different sources to get the most balanced perspective – but we will attempt to offer the following fundamental things:
– Relevant information – Accurate facts – Quality writing
The Pillars of Reliable News
We think these should be three pillars of any trustworthy news source, and we want to provide exactly that. We want to avoid the type of clickbait, dramatized headlines which so plague the modern world of news, and instead provide information that is of interest to you in a straightforward and streamlined way.
This isn’t breaking any new ground. We’re not trying to re-imagine the entire world of news breaking. All that we want to do is to provide another reliable news source which focuses on information that is relevant and important to the reader, offers it in a way which is easy to consume and understand, and avoids dramatic headlines which exist only to get clicks.
Why Should You Care?
As you might have guessed, at this blog we are pretty passionate about news. It’s not always fun – and hasn’t that been the case more than ever over the past year or so! – but it affects all of our lives in different ways. The last 18 months have demonstrated more than ever the importance of having an understanding of the latest goings-on in the world, and being privy to the constant changes at a state, national and global level has been a necessity in an era of masks, curfews, and previously unimaginable restrictions upon our lives.
But we don’t want to focus only on the negatives – isn’t there already enough of that in the news! It’s an unfortunate reality that often, news is negative because it needs to be – but that doesn’t mean that it always has to be! This isn’t to say that we’ll never post anything that isn’t all smiles and rainbows. Sometimes that information is relevant and if that’s the case, we want to share it with the readers. But the world isn’t all doom and gloom, and if there’s a feel-good news story to be written then we want to share it with you.
And this, in essence, sums up our reasoning behind starting this blog. We’re passionate about news, and understand the pivotal role that it plays in our society. There are three functional pillars which we believe should be the foundation of any good news website, which we outlined above – relevance, accuracy and quality writing – and we want to bring this directly to your computer, mobile or whatever it may be. If a story needs to be shared, we’ll try to bring it to you, whether it’s positive, negative, or somewhere on the endless spectrum in between.
